On February 1, Freedom Services will begin doing business as FreedomCar.  Nothing about the company will change except our name and the logo that identifies our cars.  There are no new owners, no new rates, no new telephone numbers--just a new brand identity that does more to explain what it is that we do.

Freedom Services will continue to exist as a parent corporation to FreedomCar, but the old name will cease to exist from the standpoint of clients and staff.  This is not our first name change--we went through a couple back in the early days of the Company, originally incorporated as Freedom Services Association in 1991.  We've been known as Freedom Services Transportation as well, before settling into Freedom Services in 1994.  In no case, we felt, did the name do justice to our business mission, but clients and staff seemed to like it and it's never a great idea to mess with success.  That said, it occurred to my partner Robyne and myself that even if we weren't changing the name of the company, our clientele seemed to be doing it for us.  "Freedom Cab", "Friendship Car", "Freedom Taxi", "Freedom Limo", "Freedom Car" and numerous other permutations on this theme were all terms we heard our company being called, and we finally decided that if people needed our name to say more about what it is that we do, that was reasonable and we should do it.  Lesson # 1 in any marketing class is that your brand should not require explanation, and certainly our brand required explanation on a regular basis.  So, February 1st, we will be known by a name that says quite a bit about what we do, that is easy to say and to remember, and which we feel may be all the image change this company will need for a long, long time.  FreedomCar.
